City library's proposal for the month of September
The Dormagen City Library has an exciting lineup of events for the month of September, offering a variety of activities for book lovers of all ages.
Kick-starting the month is the Story and Literature Café on Wednesday, September 3rd, from 3 to 4:30 pm. Renowned author Reinhold Peter will be the guest of honour. The event takes place at the library's location at Marktplatz 1.
On the same day, children aged 4 and above are invited to a series of reading actions, held at 4:30 to 5 pm. These events will continue on September 12th, 16th, and 30th.
For those who love literature, a Literature Meetup is happening on Wednesday, September 24th, from 10:00 to 11:30 AM. This event, in collaboration with the Dormagen 55plus Network, is a great opportunity for book enthusiasts to gather and discuss their favourite reads. The author for this meetup is yet to be announced.
On Friday, September 5th, at 7 pm, Jürgen Wiebicke's reading titled "First Aid for Democracy-Rescuers" is scheduled. This event is also taking place at the City Library.
For those who enjoy crafting, a meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 17th, from 3 to 5 pm.
The Summer Reading Club, a project of the Cultural Secretariat NRW Gütersloh, funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, has been a staple at the library since 2006. Although the Club will be on a hiatus until 2025, it will return with the motto "Be part of it".
From 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, September 27th, a book swap event is happening at the library. For just five euros per bag, you can take home a selection of pre-loved books.
The closing party for the Summer Reading Club will take place at Café micado on Friday, September 19th, from 4:30 to 6 pm.
Participation in most events is free and usually does not require registration. For more information, contact the City Library, call 02133 257 4159, email [email protected], or visit www.stadtbibliothek-dormagen.de.
Children can collect a stamp in their reading pass for each visited reading action, and with six stamps, they can choose a surprise from the treasure chest.
Since 2023, the Summer Reading Club has been carried by the Fachstelle öffentlichen Bibliotheken NRW. The library's events take place at Marktplatz 1.
