Experience the thrill of biathlon, a renowned winter sport, on Saturday, September 13, between 11 am and 6 pm, right in front of the Erwin-Piscator-Haus (EPH). Biathlon Germany Tour makes its way to Marburg, offering you the unique chance to become a biathlete for a day.

City's Inaugural Biathlon Competition in Marburger

The University City of Marburg has some exciting news for biathlon enthusiasts! The city is set to host the First Marburg City Biathlon on Saturday, September 13, from 11 am to 6 pm, right in front of the Erwin-Piscator-Haus.

This thrilling event, organised by the Marburg Biathlon Club, will bring together cross-country skiing and shooting, the two disciplines that make up the sport of biathlon. Participants will be using so-called chest trainers for cross-country skiing and biathlon rifles equipped with infrared technology for shooting.

The Marburg City Biathlon will feature two main events: an Individual Challenge and a Relay City Championship. The Individual Challenge, taking place from 11 am to 2 pm, will see two participants competing against each other. The Relay City Championship, starting at 2 pm, will be a four-person team event.

The Relay City Championship has some exciting prizes up for grabs. The best team overall will win a prize, as will the best student team and the best club team. All participants in the relay challenge will also receive souvenir medals.

For those who excel in the Individual Challenge and the Relay City Championship, there are additional prizes. The winner of the Individual Challenge will receive hotel accommodation for themselves and a companion, coaching by Olympic champion Michael Rösch, and a chance to participate in the finale of the best stages of all cities in March 2026 in the Biathlon Ski Hall in Oberhof.

Registration for the Marburg Biathlon Relay City Championship has been extended to Sunday, September 7. Registration for the Individual Challenge can also be done on the day of the event at the info stand. For student and club teams, it's important to include "Studi" and the club name respectively in the team name during registration.

The Marburg Stadtbiathlon Relay Finale on September 7, 2025, in Oberhof is part of this tour, and qualification for the final can be achieved through regional preliminary competitions held in various cities.
