Clash between Chelsea and Bournemouth

In a tightly contested Premier League match on December 28, 2022, Chelsea emerged victorious against AFC Bournemouth, ending a five-game winless streak with a 2-0 victory.

The first goal of the game came in the 16th minute, with Kai Havertz finding the back of the net after a perfectly weighted pass from Raheem Sterling. The second goal followed shortly after, in the 24th minute, as Mason Mount capitalised on a brilliant team effort to score an exquisite finish.

Throughout the match, Chelsea showcased their quality on the ball, pushing forward relentlessly and controlling the game. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a notable attempt, playing one nice ball and attempting another burst forward that was denied by Marcos Senesi. DF Reece James, who provided real quality with his crossing, was forced off injured during the game.

Chelsea's defensive strengths were evident, particularly when under pressure. César Azpilicueta easily slotted into the backline and used his experience to help diminish the clock. Marc Cucurella delivered a solid defensive display and showed quality on the ball.

Mason Mount revealed plenty of intelligence to grab pockets of space and use them well. His goal, a testament to his skill, was a highlight of the match. MF Jorginho played a good pass to Mount in the build-up to the opener and often moved the ball well in the center of the pitch.

However, there were concerns about Chelsea conceding the ball in dangerous positions, a weakness that will need to be addressed, particularly when facing Manchester City in early January.

Graham Potter's management was praised, with the decision to play Denis Zakaria in midfield being a success. Zakaria put in a brilliant performance on his Premier League debut, providing good defensive work. The Swiss midfielder received an 8 out of 10 rating for his performance.

Chelsea's performance saw them control the second half and receive applause from the crowd, potentially moving them to eighth place in the Premier League table. Christian Pulisic had a goal disallowed before and after half-time, but overall, it was a strong showing from the London side.
