Classic Jaguar MKII Convertible owned by Noel Gallagher available for purchase
Jaguar MKII Convertible Once Owned by Noel Gallagher Up for Sale
A rare piece of Britpop history is now available for purchase, as the 1967 Jaguar MKII Convertible previously owned by Noel Gallagher is up for sale. The car, which underwent a high-specification transformation into a convertible model during a two-year restoration period, is now being offered by Twyford Moors Classic Cars.
The transformation of the Jaguar included the removal of rear doors, extension of front doors, and the addition of an electric hood and window system. Modern inertia-reel seatbelts, an electric cooling fan, and an automatic gearbox were also added to the car.
The Jaguar, which was kept in professional storage for many years, is in 'stunning' condition, according to the seller. It made appearances in high-profile events, including during the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations with model Twiggy riding in the back. The car also made an appearance in a music video for Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds band, driven by Doctor Who actor Matt Smith.
No prior context was provided, so it is not clear when or where the sale of the car took place. However, it is worth noting that the car was last sold by Jaguar Land Rover Classic in 2023 for £144,950, but its current price is available upon application.
The Jaguar MKII Convertible is considered a cultural icon due to its association with Noel Gallagher and the Britpop era. Gallagher, a member of the famous band Oasis, once owned the car, but it is not publicly disclosed who the current owner is.
Harry Rochez from Twyford Moors Classic Cars expressed excitement about offering the car for sale. He said, "We are thrilled to have this iconic car in our inventory. It's a must-have for any fan of Oasis, as the band is back on tour."
Interestingly, Noel Gallagher had the opportunity to learn to drive during the two-year restoration period, as he had yet to obtain a driving licence at the time. However, it is worth noting that the car was never driven by Noel Gallagher.
The Jaguar was originally a four-door MKII saloon, which was transformed into a convertible by specialists Vicarage. The car is now available for potential buyers who are fans of Oasis and want to own a piece of Britpop history.
