The Hannover Fire Department responded to a reported smoke incident at the Friedrich-Ebert-School in the Badenstedt district on Thursday afternoon. The fire was reported via emergency number 112 at around 14:35.

According to the school's secretary, the fire was first reported. The smoke was located on the 2nd floor of the school building, with dense smoke coming out of an open window. Two breathing apparatus teams from the Hannover Fire Department fought the fire with a hose, quickly extinguishing it. High-pressure fans were then used to ventilate the classroom and adjacent classrooms to remove smoke.

Before the arrival of the emergency services, 66 students were evacuated from the building by the teaching staff. Fortunately, no students were harmed due to the careful actions of teachers and caregivers during the evacuation. However, there was property damage as a result of the fire. The exact extent and amount of damage caused by the fire are currently unknown.

In total, 36 emergency services personnel with 16 vehicles from the fire department and emergency services were involved in the operation. The traffic disruptions on Am Soltekamp were a direct result of the fire operation.

The Hannover Fire Department dispatched two fire engines and the emergency services to the scene at Salzweg. The scene of the fire incident at Friedrich-Ebert-School was handed over to the police for further investigation. The investigation into the cause of the fire will be conducted by the police.
