DEVK, a German insurance company with over 15.3 million contracts under management, has launched a new unit-linked pension insurance aimed at women with flexible careers and lower incomes. The company, founded almost 140 years ago by railway workers, currently employs around 7,500 people and is the fourth-largest household contents, fifth-largest motor, and sixth-largest liability insurer in Germany.

The new pension insurance offers a range of benefits designed to adapt to life phases such as family formation, sabbaticals, or job changes. It includes modern ETF-based investment strategies, diversifying assets and reducing risk, and offers flexible contributions, additional payments, and capital withdrawals from as little as 500 euros.

A recent study commissioned by DEVK shows that 44% of women have not saved enough for retirement. Structural barriers and a lack of suitable offers make it difficult for many women to save for retirement. Flexibility, such as through variable payment options and contribution breaks, is relevant to every fourth woman (25%), while 41% of women place particular emphasis on low costs in a retirement provision solution. For half of the women surveyed (49%), a high guarantee and security is crucial in a retirement provision solution.

The guarantee level in DEVK's new pension insurance can be flexibly chosen, ranging from zero to almost 100 percent. The product aims to enable financial independence and strengthen the self-confidence of women in every life phase.

The majority of women (76%) are responsible for their own retirement provision. In 2023, the average monthly pension payment for women in Germany was 936 euros, while for men it was 1.427 euros. A good life in old age is hardly affordable for many women with this average pension payment. The study suggests that pension products that accompany individual women's biographies are needed.

DEVK's new pension insurance is designed to remain predictable during life phases such as family foundation, sabbatical, or job change. The company's focus on modern ETF-based investment strategies and flexible contribution options makes it an attractive choice for women seeking a retirement solution tailored to their unique needs.
