Collision between a Pedestrian and a Streetcar Causes Major Incident
In a heartbreaking incident, a pedestrian was tragically killed in a collision with a tram at the intersection of Kreisstraße and Martin-Luther-Straße in Hattingen today at around 11:15 AM.
The Hattingen Fire Department and emergency services quickly responded to the scene, initiating an immediate rescue operation. The tram was lifted using hydraulic equipment in an attempt to free the trapped pedestrian. Unfortunately, despite the swift measures taken, the on-site doctor could only confirm the death of the victim.
The four people in the tram were guided to safety in the rear of the tram after the accident. The tram driver was initially treated by emergency services and later by specialist staff from the transport company.
Upon arrival, it was confirmed that the pedestrian was trapped under the tram. The fire department's subsequent measures were limited to securing the scene. The police are investigating the accident scene further. After the accident, the passengers did not require further assistance.
