Collision of Six Vehicles on A3 Highway Results in Three Injuries and Substantial Damage
In a shocking incident that occurred on the A3 near Rodgau, six vehicles were involved in a severe accident around 21:45 between the Hanau and Obertshausen junctions. The accident resulted in the closure of the highway until just after midnight.
The collision involved a Mercedes B-Class, a Porsche, a Golf, a Ford Transit, a Multivan, and an articulated lorry. The Golf, Transit, and Multivan were so severely damaged that they had to be towed away, causing a total property damage of over 120,000 euros.
The driver of the Golf, a 23-year-old, suffered serious injuries, while the drivers of the Transit and Multivan were lightly injured. All three were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The accident began when the driver of the Mercedes, aged 20, changed lanes without noticing the Porsche, driven by a 56-year-old. The Porsche collided with the Mercedes, which was then thrown onto the right lane and collided with the Golf. The Golf spun, hit the central reservation, and ended up on the left lane.
The circumstances of how the Multivan and the articulated lorry were involved in the accident are still under investigation by the police. Witnesses are asked to contact the Langenselbold police motorway station to help clarify the exact course of the accident.
Emergency services, fire brigade, and road maintenance were on site with numerous personnel to manage the aftermath of the accident. The A3 was reopened just after midnight, causing minimal disruption to traffic.
