In an unexpected turn of events, two accidents on the A3 near Neuwied have caused significant traffic disruption, with the road remaining closed for several hours.

The first accident, involving a tractor-trailer and a road maintenance truck, occurred at around 10:45 AM on Tuesday. Both drivers were lightly injured and required hospitalization. The location of this incident was at kilometer 56 on the A3.

Authorities, including the police and local traffic management agencies, were swiftly on the scene to manage the situation. The A3 was fully closed in the direction of Cologne near the accident site. The fire departments of Neustadt and Etscheid worked tirelessly to rescue the driver of the overturned tractor-trailer from his cab using a ladder.

In a subsequent development, a second accident occurred at around 2:40 PM, within the tailback formed due to the initial accident. Three trucks were involved in this incident, and one driver sustained light injuries. The second accident took place between the Neuwied and Neustadt/Wied exits.

The police have established a detour for traffic and are currently handling accident investigation and traffic management. The Montabaur police autobahn station advises avoiding the area as much as possible.

The exact duration of the road closure was not clearly specified in the available information. It is hoped that the situation will return to normal soon, and the A3 will be fully reopened. Until then, drivers are advised to plan alternative routes or expect significant delays.
