Collision on A70 Highway Results in Severe Passenger Injury

In a shocking turn of events, a severe truck accident has occurred on the A70 highway between Bayreuth and Bamberg, causing a complete closure towards Bamberg. The incident took place in Neudrossenfeld, a town within the Kulmbach district, on September 11, 2025.

According to a police spokesperson, two trucks collided at the site, resulting in extensive damage. One of the drivers was seriously injured and had to be flown to the hospital by helicopter. The identity of the young driver, as described in the available reports, remains undisclosed. The other driver, fortunately, remained uninjured.

The truck passenger, too, was seriously injured and was airlifted to the hospital. However, the passenger is not in critical condition, as confirmed by medical personnel.

Rescue operations are currently underway at the accident site to manage the aftermath of the collision. The closure of the highway is between the Bayreuth/Kulmbach interchange and Neudrossenfeld in the Kulmbach district.

While the exact cause of the accident is initially unclear, authorities are investigating the incident to determine the factors that led to the collision. Despite the extensive damage, it is possible that one lane will be reopened soon on the A70 highway.
