In a shocking turn of events, an accident on the A2 heading towards Berlin left several people injured and the driver at fault on the run. The collision occurred near Rodenberg in the Schaumburg district, causing the busy highway to be closed for nearly six hours.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, with two helicopters involved in transporting the injured. Seven vehicles were involved in the collision, resulting in a total of eight people being hurt, two of whom were severely injured. The ages of the injured range from 27 to 77.
The accident unfolded when the driver, for reasons yet unknown, suddenly stopped their car on the left lane. In the chaos that followed, the driver fled the scene on foot, leaving the identity of the individual a mystery. The police are currently conducting investigations and have identified Bad Nenndorf in the Schaumburg district as the location for the search for the driver at fault.
The reason for the sudden stop and the subsequent flight remains a mystery at this time. It is also unclear which direction the driver took after fleeing the accident.
The injured were transported to hospitals by ambulance, with some being accompanied by doctors. The damages from the accident are estimated at around 36,000 euros.
As the investigation continues, the Hannover police are urging anyone with information regarding the identity of the fleeing driver to come forward. The safety and well-being of those involved in the accident, as well as all road users, remains the top priority.
