News Article: Multiple Traffic Accidents in East Hesse
In a series of traffic incidents that occurred over the course of two days in East Hesse, Germany, several vehicles were involved in accidents, but thankfully, no serious injuries were reported.
On Wednesday, August 27, a traffic accident took place at the intersection of Bahnhofstraße / Reichstraße in Bad Hersfeld. The 38-year-old driver of a Toyota Yaris lost control of his car in a right curve in the exit area and collided with the guardrail. As a result, approximately 20,000 euros worth of property damage was incurred. The driver was lightly injured and taken to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment.
A few hours earlier, on Wednesday morning at around 6:00 AM, a bicycle accident occurred on Bronnzeller Straße in Engelhelms. A 41-year-old cyclist was seriously injured in the incident. The exact cause of the accident is unknown.
Later that day, an Audi and a Ford, driven by a 39-year-old and a 52-year-old respectively, from Bad Hersfeld, were involved in a collision. The accident occurred on the highway, and the estimated property damage is around 5000 euros. The 52-year-old was slightly injured and taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance. The 39-year-old driver was reportedly uninjured.
On Thursday, August 28, a truck carrying hazardous materials caught fire on A66 near Neuhof-Nord exit heading towards Fulda. The driver, a 56-year-old individual, reacted quickly, pulled over, and used two onboard fire extinguishers to delay the fire. The fire department was able to extinguish the trailer without any hazardous material leakage.
In addition to emergency and rescue services, the Hofbieber fire department was on the scene of another accident that occurred on Thursday at around 11:00 AM on the A7 (heading north) in the exit area of the Fulda Mitte interchange. The cause of the accident is unknown, but the collision resulted in approximately 8,000 euros in property damage.
Finally, on Thursday (28.08.), a traffic accident occurred on the L 3174 near Rödergrund, involving a Mercedes Vito driven by a 20-year-old from Tann. The driver crashed into the rear of a parked VW-Golf on the side of the road, causing property damage of approximately 2500 euros. No injuries were reported in this incident.
The authority responsible for the police in East Hesse is the Hessian State Police, organised under the regional police departments such as the Polizeipräsidium Kassel or local police stations within the region, as East Hesse is part of the German federal state of Hesse.
