The picturesque town of Nagold in Dillweißenstein recently celebrated the 80th anniversary of its beloved outdoor pool, Freibad, with a series of events that attracted locals and visitors alike.

The celebrations, organised by the Amt für Kultur, Sport und Tourismus, took place over two days in the Stadtpark Kleb (Krautbühlpark) on July 19 and 20, 2025. The events included a movie night with a buffet, a pool concert, a youth service, and a Schnürles tournament, all of which were well-received.

On the actual anniversary day, friends of the Nagold outdoor pool gathered to reminisce about their memories at the pool. The day was filled with laughter and nostalgia as they shared stories of learning to swim, meeting friends, and even meeting their first love at the pool.

The Penthouse Jazz Band provided the perfect soundtrack for the anniversary event, captivating the audience with their melodious tunes. The catering and grill team of the Belrem guild ensured that the visitors were well-fed and hydrated throughout the day.

Artist Viola also contributed to the celebration by selling some of her paintings, with the proceeds going towards the maintenance of the Nagold outdoor pool.

Jörg Müller, the event coordinator, expressed his relief that the celebration was successful despite the changeable weather. In his opening speech, he reminded attendees of the special moments they had experienced at the pool over the years. He even jokingly suggested that some attendees may have snuck into the pool at night, causing amused laughter.

The celebration was featured in regional news due to a world record for the most people swimming simultaneously at the Nagold pool. The Mayor of Nagold, Peter Boch, thanked local associations and volunteers for their contributions to the event and expressed hope that the Nagold outdoor pool would be preserved in future debates.

The highlight of the Schnürles tournament is yet to come next Sunday, concluding the anniversary event series. The Nagold outdoor pool, with its rich history and vibrant community, continues to be a cherished part of the town's identity.
