Commencement of Carlyle's Innovative Clean Energy Development Platform for Infrastructure Growth

In a significant move towards a sustainable future, global private capital investment firm Carlyle has launched a new energy platform called Revera Energy. The platform, which aims to develop, build, own, and operate sustainable and clean energy infrastructure solutions in Australia and the UK, marks a new growth phase for the company.

Revera Energy's founding was involved with Mitchell Carlyle, a Managing Director at the firm. The platform has also garnered the support of Alain Halimi, Managing Director at Nomura IPB, who expressed excitement about the venture. Nomura IPB believes Revera Energy's diverse development pipeline will support grid resiliency and energy transition goals across multiple jurisdictions.

Some of the projects in Revera Energy's portfolio were carved out and acquired from Amp Energy in Australia and the UK. In the UK, Revera Energy is advancing more than 1.2GW of late-stage battery storage projects designed to strengthen grid resiliency and support national decarbonization goals. In Australia, the company is currently working on a 250 MW in-construction battery storage project, 3.7 GW of wind and solar projects, and a 1GW green hydrogen project.

Carlyle plans to leverage its global infrastructure platform to help accelerate Revera's growth and expand its portfolio of diversified energy projects. The projects Revera Energy will be involved in include battery storage, renewable power, and green hydrogen.

In a separate move, Carlyle has also launched a renewable energy development platform called Telis Energy in 2022. Telis Energy focuses on high-quality renewable energy projects, primarily solar, in the UK, France, Spain, and Germany. Telis Energy aims to have a target project pipeline of more than 10GW in place by 2030.

Revera Energy has established relationships with financing partners, including Nomura Infrastructure & Power, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Westpac Institutional Bank, Natixis CIB, and Export Development Canada. Carlyle announced an initial $374 million investment in Amp Energy in 2021 and has invested more than $440 million in Amp's global energy transition platform to date.

Richard Hoskins, Chairman of Revera Energy and Managing Director in Carlyle's Infrastructure Group, believes the launch of Revera Energy is a significant step towards a sustainable energy future. With its diverse projects and strong partnerships, Revera Energy is well-positioned to contribute to grid resiliency and support national decarbonization goals.
