The city of Nordhorn has undertaken a significant renovation and conversion project, transforming the former Anne-Frank School into the modern ALMA School Center. Located at Von-Behring-Straße, this educational institution now houses the Astrid-Lindgren School and Marienschule.

The move into the newly renovated classrooms took place on August 9, 2018, with loud cheers from the students echoing through the halls. The city council has invested approximately 2.15 million euros so far in this project, with further development planned for the schoolyard and renovation of the sports hall.

The renovation work began in January 2018, and the largest expense was the complete renewal of the building technology, including electronics, heating, and ventilation, for around 1.2 million euros. The teachers' rooms, general group rooms, additional group rooms, art, workshop, and care rooms have all been thoroughly renovated, ensuring a comfortable and conducive learning environment for the students.

The new cafeteria at the ALMA School Center offers around 110 seats, providing ample space for students to gather and socialise during breaks. The building, previously owned by the County of Grafschaft Bentheim and used as a refugee accommodation, has been given a new lease of life as a vibrant learning hub.

The city of Münster acquired and renovated the building in 2018, and the name "ALMA School Center" is a composite of the initial letters of Astrid-Lindgren School and Marienschule. Work will continue at the ALMA School Center for the next two years, including an energy-efficient renovation of the roof, walls, and windows.

The ALMA School Center is more than just a school; it's a testament to the city's commitment to providing quality education facilities for its students. The transformation of the Von-Behring-Straße building into the ALMA School Center is a significant step forward in Nordhorn's educational landscape, offering a modern, spacious, and inviting learning environment for the Astrid-Lindgren School and Marienschule.
