Commencing in September, rail services in the Karlsruhe region will experience sporadic disruptions.
Breaking News: Partial Train Service Disruptions in Karlsruhe Area Due to Maintenance Work
The Karlsruhe Transport Association's website has announced partial train service disruptions in the Karlsruhe area during September and October 2025. These disruptions are due to necessary maintenance work on the network, being carried out by DB InfraGO, a subsidiary of German Railways.
The work will primarily take place during the night, specifically from 22:00 to 04:30 and 00:00 to 04:30 on specified dates. As a result, several lines will be cancelled, including the S32 and S31, which run between Bruchsal and Karlsruhe Hauptbahnhof.
Commuters and other passengers should expect closures, diversions, and longer journeys during these times. Replacement bus services will be provided for all passengers, starting from September 10, 2025. These bus services will replace the section between Karlsruhe Hbf (Vorplatz) and Rastatt and Kuppenheim during the affected times.
Passengers at Karlsruhe Hauptbahnhof are advised to pay close attention to the displays and prepare for replacement bus services. The maintenance work initially affects the S-Bahn area, but it's unclear if other lines will be affected later.
The maintenance work is planned, but the exact nature and scope of the work are not specified. However, it's expected to progress quickly to keep to the tight schedule.
It's also worth noting that InfraGO operates the largest track network in Europe with over 30,000 kilometers. The company has not yet provided information on whether the cancellations will extend beyond September.
