Competition between Salesforce and ServiceNow arises with the introduction of Agentic AI, reshaping the market landscape.

In the dynamic world of cloud computing, the landscape is constantly evolving, and the latest development sees two industry giants, ServiceNow and Salesforce, making significant moves. The use of agentic AI is driving this transformation, breaking down barriers and opening up new opportunities in the cloud market.

ServiceNow's CEO, Bill McDermott, has announced their aggressive foray into the CRM business, a prime area traditionally dominated by Salesforce. Meanwhile, Salesforce's CEO, Marc Benioff, has revealed their intentions to delve into IT Service Management (ITSM).

This shift is not a mere coincidence. Both companies are responding to the power of agentic AI, a technology that is reshaping the cloud market. Marc Benioff, in fact, has emphasised Data Cloud and agentic AI, referred to as "Agentforce," as the core of Salesforce's strategy, moving away from their focus on applications.

Salesforce is not alone in this transition. They are moving from being an apps company to a data company, following the lead of industry heavyweights like Microsoft. Satya Nadella, Microsoft's CEO, has stated that while apps and SaaS are not dying, agentic AI will significantly change what apps do, how they work, and the value customers can extract from them.

The AI Agent & Copilot Summit, an AI-first event, is at the forefront of this reimagination machine that is the cloud. The summit, scheduled for March 17-19, 2026 in San Diego, will focus on defining opportunities, impact, and outcomes with Microsoft Copilot and agents.

The Cloud Wars Minute, a daily news and commentary show, continues to provide insights and perspectives around these changing dynamics in the cloud market due to the use of agentic AI. The show's focus is on the evolving dynamics in the cloud market and the new competition and approaches that agentic AI is bringing about.

Frank Gerber, CEO of StarStatement.com, will be participating in the AI Agent & Copilot Summit 2026 in San Diego. The event, following the success of its 2025 edition, is expected to provide customers with more wide-ranging tools that allow them to see all their data, develop end-to-end processes, and achieve better business outcomes.

The larger point of this discussion is about how agentic AI is causing a paradigm shift in the cloud market, opening up new hunting grounds and opportunities for vendors. As the use of agentic AI continues to grow, we can expect to see more companies adapting to this technology and reshaping their strategies to stay competitive.
