The city of Yakutsk, in its continued efforts to improve its greenery, hosted the annual "Green Cup" competition as part of the "Million Flowers" campaign. This year's contest, held on September 5, saw 153 applications from various organisations, enterprises, TOSs, residents of houses and microdistricts.

The jury, consisting of Gerry Leonidas, Oliver Linke, Hrant Papazian, Carolyn, Svetlana Karamdonova, Yana Vasilyeva, Kristina Egorova, and Ekaterina Pavlova, gathered to determine the winners of the second stage. The contest evaluated entries across 13 territories, with 83 finalists competing.

The "Green Cup" category assessed the overall improvement in the quality of care for green objects, floral decoration, and landscaping in the districts of the city of Yakutsk. One special category, "Victory Beds", was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Out of the 83 finalists, 34 winners were selected across 9 categories. The awards ceremony will take place on September 13 in the Park of Victory. The winners will receive the coveted traveling cup, a symbol of their achievement in enhancing the city's greenery.

Previous winners of the Green Cup include the Central District Administration (2022), the Saysarsky District Administration (2023), and the Gagarin District Administration (2024). Evdokia Pavlova, Chief Specialist of the Yakutsk City Duma, and Elena Govarova, Chief Specialist of the General Department of the Territorial Work Department, are also part of the Yakutsk City Administration and have been instrumental in the success of the competition.

Yekaterina Pavlova, Advisor to the Mayor of Yakutsk on Greening and Deputy Chairperson, is a dendrologist and has played a key role in the city's greening initiatives. Kristina Egorova, Director of the "City of Flowers" floristry salons and a member of the Coordinating Council for Entrepreneurship, also contributes significantly to the city's floral decoration.
