Conflict in Ukraine: Pope XIV Urges an Instant Ceasefire

Pope Leo XIV Urges for Peace and an End to Gun Violence

Pope Leo, the first American to hold the position of Pope, has expressed concern over the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the recent shooting near a Catholic school in Minneapolis, United States.

In a renewed plea for peace, Pope Leo stated that the voice of weapons must be silenced, and those responsible for the conflict should abandon the logic of weapons and take the path of negotiation and peace. He called on Vladimir Putin, the current Russian head of state leading the conflict in Ukraine, to take this path.

The conflict in Ukraine, which has been ongoing for more than three and a half years, has been marked by violence and destruction. Recently, more than 20 people were killed in the heaviest Russian air strikes with missiles and drones since late July.

The shooting near a Catholic school in Minneapolis, a violent incident that has resulted in the loss of two lives, has led to calls for an end to gun violence. In response, Pope Leo XIV called for an end to gun violence in the United States following the tragic event.

The Pope also reiterated an urgent appeal for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine during the traditional Angelus prayer in Rome. He called for solidarity through prayers and concrete signs of charity in response to the ongoing conflict.

The Pope's call for an end to the pandemic of weapons includes both large and small weapons. He sees the world as infected by this pandemic, and his call for an end to gun violence in the United States is a prayer to God for a solution to this issue.

The Pope's concerns are not limited to the conflict in Ukraine and gun violence in the United States. He has also expressed his worry over the ongoing war in Ukraine, stating that it continues to bring death and destruction. His call for peace in the region is a renewed plea for an end to the violence and destruction that has marked the conflict for an extended period.
