In the heart of Paulsmühle, exciting changes are on the horizon as the redesign of Hildener Straße was decided at the end of 2023. This comprehensive project, slated to begin in February 2025, aims to enhance safety, traffic flow, and accessibility for pedestrians, cyclists, cars, and public transport.

The redesign will make Hildener Straße a one-way street, moving traffic towards Hilden, with the one-way traffic regulation on Telleringstraße remaining in place until the end of the construction measures. The total costs for this project are set at 4.43 million euros, with the state of NRW contributing around two million euros towards the funding.

The intersection of Hildener Straße and Buchholzer Busch will be transformed into a roundabout, ensuring smoother traffic flow and safer maneuvering of construction vehicles. The existing bus stops "Benrath Operations Yard" and "Schimmelpfennigstraße" will be rebuilt barrier-free in both directions, making them more accessible for all users.

In addition to the road redesign, the project includes the expansion of district heating in Paulsmühle, as well as the installation of a new drinking water supply. Continuous cycle paths with a width of 1.85 meters will be laid on both sides of Hildener Straße, with the cycle lane in the area of the Rheinbahn operations yard being painted red.

The works are scheduled to begin in late August 2025, with road and asphalt renewal works lasting approximately two weeks. The completion of work on Hildener Straße is expected around mid-September 2025. During the construction period, Hildener Straße will remain passable towards Hilden, with a detour signposted for traffic towards Düsseldorf's city center.

The route from Paulsmühle via Hildener Straße towards the castle will go through the construction site on Telleringstraße. However, at least it will be possible to leave Paulsmühle towards the castle via Telleringstraße by car after the completion of the water pipe works.

The network company is driving forward the expansion of district heating in Paulsmühle. Furthermore, the works of the network company for a new water pipe in Paulsmühle are scheduled to be completed by mid-March 2025. A new, demand-controlled traffic light will also be installed at Schimmelpfennigstraße.

Lastly, it's worth mentioning that apartments are being newly built in Paulsmühle, adding to the vibrant community of this historic area. The redesign of Hildener Straße is set to improve traffic flow, promote sustainable transportation, and contribute to the ongoing development of Paulsmühle.
