Construction work at the bridge site causing increased wait times, according to Schaberg's report.

The city of Solingen has temporarily halted the construction work on the Schaberger Street bridge over the railway tracks. The bridge, which is the only road access for houses east of the railway tracks in Hofschaft, has been under renovation as part of the city's overall construction project at Schaberger Street / Schaberger Station.

Construction on the bridge started in July and was on schedule until late August, when technical difficulties arose during the preparations for a protective and working scaffold that needed to be anchored in the bridge's concrete. The responsible scaffolding company involved in these difficulties has not been publicly disclosed.

Despite the pause in the bridge construction, car traffic will be allowed until the work resumes in March 2025. Emergency access to residential buildings behind the construction site is guaranteed for firefighters and emergency services at all times. An emergency detour through the forest has been developed for emergency services during the bridge closure, but it is only safe during summer months.

The planned four-month full closure of the bridge has been delayed, which would have resulted in the full closure extending into the winter months. The total construction time for the bridge renovation remains eight months.

The city has not yet responded to the editorial team's inquiry regarding the current situation. However, other works are being carried out during the suspension of bridge construction. The renovation of the bridge is part of a larger project that also includes the development of Schaberger Station.

Despite the setbacks, the city remains committed to the renovation of the Schaberger Street bridge. The pause in construction work is a precautionary measure to ensure safety and quality in the final product. The community can rest assured that the bridge will be restored to its full functionality in the near future.
