Contender analysis for the concluding races of the Ebor Festival: "I strongly favor him, and his recent accomplishments have been validated"
In the final leg of the Ebor Meeting, two exciting races are set to take place: the Sky Bet Strensall Stakes and the Sky Bet Constantine Handicap.
Trainer Tim Easterby has reported that Revival Power, his entrant in the Julia Graves Roses Stakes, is in great form and could be a contender to watch. Meanwhile, in the Sky Bet Strensall Stakes, King's Gambit, trained by Harry Charlton, is the likely favourite. Despite not winning in seven subsequent starts, Charlton believes the nine-furlong race is a nice spot for his horse, who finished fourth in the London Gold Cup and is seeking his first victory since then.
King's Gambit could face stiff competition from Bowmark, a colt who has impressed with wins in two novices races and a close second in a Listed race. Thady Gosden, joint-trainer of Bowmark, believes fast ground and the extra furlong will suit his horse in the Sky Bet Strensall Stakes. King of Cities, who finished ahead of Bowmark in the French Derby, could also be a factor, but has struggled to perform down in class and has returned to a mile.
In the Sky Bet Constantine Handicap, Jack Channon's Chief Mankato is tipped to run well, with the trainer believing the horse to be very talented. Harry Charlton also has a horse in the race, Completely Random, who Charlton thinks will run well despite a challenging draw. Richard Spencer, on the other hand, trains three horses (Two Tribes, Twilight Calls, Run Boy Run) for the race and reports them all to be in good form.
Another horse to watch in the Sky Bet Strensall Stakes is Checkandchallenge, who has posted Racing Post Ratings of 115 and 113 on his two visits to York, including a third in this race last year. Skukuza could also bounce back in the Sky Bet Strensall Stakes after finding the ground against him at Goodwood.
The opening Group 3 race on the final day is the Sky Bet Strensall Stakes, with the Ebor Handicap being the big race of the day. The Raceday clerk of the course, Anthea Leigh, is considering putting more water on the track for the final day of the Ebor Meeting.
The search results do not provide information about which horses were favored by renowned trainers for the Melrose Handicap during the Ebor Meeting in 2021 or their potential for new group successes.
