Contenders for Leading First-Round Wins at the 3M Open 2025: Consistently Quick Starters Forecasted to Keep Pace at TPC Twin Cities

The 3M Open Kicks Off on TPC Twin Cities

The PGA Tour's campaign continues this week at TPC Twin Cities in Minnesota, with the 3M Open taking center stage. Several golfers are generating buzz as outright betting picks for the tournament, including Sam Burns, Jake Knapp, Chris Gotterup, and Michael Thorbjornsen.

Sam Burns, who co-led the Genesis Scottish Open with a 64 two weeks ago, is among the favourites. Another contender is Jake Knapp, who is considered a sleeper pick for the 3M Open. Knapp came close to co-leading the RBC Canadian Open four starts ago, thanks to a first-round 63, and he ranks 10th on the PGA Tour for Round 1 Scoring Average with a total of 68.84.

Michael Thorbjornsen, who ranks 3rd on the PGA Tour for total birdies made, is also in the mix. Despite being priced at +3500 to win the event, Thorbjornsen is +5000 to lead after round one. Thorbjornsen's form at TPC Twin Cities is impressive, having carded a 66 during his first visit last season. His Round 1 Scoring Average is the 16th best among his PGA Tour peers.

Thorbjornsen's fellow contenders include Max Greyserman, Maverick McNealy, and Wyndham Clark, who are also among the outright betting picks. Other notable names include Akshay Bhatia, Si Woo Kim, Max Homa, Adam Scott, Davis Thompson, Kurt Kitayama, Cameron Champ, Rickie Fowler, Luke Clanton, Jesper Svensson, Niklas Norgaard, Emiliano Grillo, Keith Mitchell, Sungjae Im, Kevin Yu, Alex Smalley, Rico Hoey, Haotong Li, and Matt Wallace. All other players are priced at +7000 or higher for the first-round leader odds.

If not for a mid-round bogey and a couple of close shaves, Michael Thorbjornsen would have co-led the first round at TPC Twin Cities last season. Thorbjornsen has managed 27 rounds in the 60s this season on the PGA Tour, demonstrating his consistency.

Chris Gotterup has one of the shortest prices to win the 3M Open, making him another player to watch. Meanwhile, Tony Finau completes the list of favourites for the outright betting picks.

As the 3M Open gets underway, fans and bettors alike will be eager to see how these contenders perform. With a strong field and exciting betting odds, this tournament promises to be a thrilling event.
