In a recent development, e-commerce platform Temu has announced the recall of a scarlet red nail gel product (#007) due to potential health risks. The affected product, identified by the identification number 9722549915 and product ID 601099795226601, was sold before August 24, 2025.

The recalled nail gel, named Scarlet Red LED/Nail Gel, was marketed as a high-gloss finish, modern product suitable for trend-conscious users. It was also advertised as an alcohol-free product, promising a long-lasting shine and salon quality for professional manicure and pedicure.

The recall is due to the presence of Hydroquinone Methyl Ether, a substance used as a stabilizer or inhibitor in liquid and/or gel nail modeling products. According to health authorities, Hydroquinone Methyl Ether is classified as "probably fertility-affecting and harmful to the unborn" and poses a risk of allergic skin reactions upon contact. Furthermore, it is suspected of having carcinogenic effects in humans, necessitating the recall.

In light of this, Temu will initiate a full refund to the original payment method on behalf of the seller, Mobray Nail, for all customers who have purchased the affected product. Customers who have not received an email about the recall can apply for a refund via the support center.

This recall is not the only one affecting beauty products lately. Rossmann, another retailer, recently recalled a cosmetic product due to bacteria found in cleaning wipes. Additionally, another recall occurred due to a pathogen found in a herbal product.

Consumers are advised to exercise caution when purchasing cosmetic products and to always check for any recalls or safety advisories. Maximum concentration limits must be observed in cosmetic products containing Hydroquinone Methyl Ether to ensure safety.

Stay informed and prioritise your health. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this recall, please reach out to Temu's customer support.
