Counterfeit operation uncovered by BPOL NRW: An Iraqi woman with a fake ID card was apprehended at Cologne/Bonn airport by federal police.
In a routine check at Cologne/Bonn Airport on September 1st, federal police officers made an arrest that has since led to a criminal investigation. The suspect, a 34-year-old Iraqi woman, is now under suspicion for illegal residence, forgery of documents, and the use of false official identification.
The investigation is being handled by the Federal Police Directorate Sankt Augustin. Further details about the individual officer involved in the arrest have not been disclosed.
Upon her arrest, the woman could not produce any documents to prove her legal entry or stay in the federal territory. During the interrogation, the officers secured a fake ID card and her mobile phone. Expert document examiners from the federal police confirmed the ID card's forgery.
The woman expressed a request for protection during the interrogation. After completing police measures, she was released with a referral certificate for the initial reception center in Bochum. The arrest prevented an illegal entry into Germany.
