Creative and Interactive Valentine's Day Sculpture for Children Inspired by Abstract Heart Designs
Kwik Stix, a mess-free paint stick introduced on this blog over a year ago, has proven to be a popular choice for mess-free art materials for kids. This was evident in a recent art project my son and I undertook, creating a Heart Op Art canvas suitable for kids on Valentine's Day.
The art supplies used in this project were Kwik Stix, which are not only mess-free but also gluten-free, as well as free of eggs, peanuts, dairy, and soy. Kwik Stix comes in twist-up sticks, similar to a glue stick, and can be used on various surfaces such as paper, wood, and cardboard.
For our Heart Op Art canvas, we divided a 10x10'' canvas into squares. Each square was then filled with vibrant colours from Kwik Stix, which dries in an impressive 90 seconds, allowing for adjoining squares to be coloured without waiting for paint to dry.
A heart template was used to add the heart shape to the canvas. The completed Heart Op Art canvas is a testament to the success of this craft, with its vibrant colours standing out against the white background.
However, the project did not turn out to be super cutesy as we initially thought. Some gaps in the Heart Op Art canvas had to be filled in to ensure a cohesive design. Despite this, we were pleased with the final result.
