Criminal investigations initiated for grave physical injuries in Poland

In a recent development, the Gelsenkirchen Police have initiated criminal proceedings against four individuals following a brawl at Kennedyplatz near the Musiktheater.

The four individuals include a 20-year-old and a 35-year-old man from Bremen, a 32-year-old with no fixed address in Germany, and a 49-year-old resident of Gelsenkirchen.

The incident, which occurred on an unspecified date, saw a violent altercation that led to the drawing of a knife and the use of pepper spray. The 35-year-old man from Bremen was lightly injured by a thrown glass bottle and received medical treatment.

During a subsequent search of the 32-year-old with no fixed address in Germany, officers found suspected narcotics.

The exact course of events and the background of the brawl are currently under investigation. Each of the individuals involved has claimed to have been threatened, attacked, and injured by the other party.

The Gelsenkirchen Police can be contacted for inquiries by journalists. Merle Trippelsdorf, the contact person for press inquiries, can be reached at +49 (0) 209 365-2011. Emails can also be sent to [email protected]. The Gelsenkirchen Police's website is gelsenkirchen.polizei.nrw/.

It is important to note that no specific individuals have been publicly named by the police as being investigated or accused in connection with the incident. However, the incident at Schalke is believed to be related to a racism-related incident involving Schalke player Christopher Antwi-Adjei, who filed a complaint after being racially abused during a match against Lok Leipzig on August 28, 2025.

On August 28, 2025, the Gelsenkirchen police were deployed in Schalke, but no new incidents or events were reported in this paragraph.

The investigations into the brawl and the criminal proceedings against the four individuals are ongoing. More details will be provided as they become available.
