In the heart of Syktyvkar, the Public Council for Taxi Development, supported by the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of Komi, organised the regional stage of the VIII All-Russian "Best Taxi Driver in Russia" competition. The event brought together professionals from across the region, aiming to recognise and celebrate excellence in the taxi industry.

The competition consisted of three stages: a test on knowledge of traffic rules, a test on knowledge of taxi law, history of the taxi industry, and cultural and historical features of Komi, and practical driving tests on cars.

The practical driving tests were designed to evaluate smooth driving, accuracy, and time trials. Any sudden movement resulted in lost points and water. The challenging weather conditions did not hinder the professionals, as noted by the competition's organiser, Kirill Kazazin.

Sergey Shuyisky emerged as the winner, scoring an impressive 96 points. He expressed his gratitude for the priceless experience the competition provided and acknowledged Maria Malinovskaya, who came in second place with 93 points, for inviting him to participate.

Maria Malinovskaya also received a cash prize of 10,000 rubles from the organisers, while Alexei Lyutoyev, who finished in third place with 88 points, received a cash prize of 5,000 rubles.

During the regional stage, a meeting was held with taxi park managers and members of the Public Council for Taxi Development. The discussion focused on the legalization of taxis in the republic, the current state of the market, and future changes. Yuri Emets, head of the insurance committee of the Public Council for Taxi Development, shared his opinion during the meeting.

The event was addressed by Olga Babina, Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Industry, and Transport of the Republic of Komi, Dmitriy Kovalev, Acting Senior Inspector of the Road Safety Propagation Division of the GIBDD in Syktyvkar, and the project's leader, "Best Taxi Driver in Russia".

The Public Council for Taxi Development covered all travel and accommodation expenses for the finalists. Sergey Shuyisky will represent the region at the national competitions for the first time.

The competition aims to unite regions, and such discussions help shape decisions for the entire industry. The winners' success not only celebrates their individual achievements but also contributes to the development and improvement of the taxi industry in Russia.
