Cupholding Team Memmingen suffers unexpected "Cup Scare" from Illertissen

During their recent face-off, Memmingen fell short against Illertissen, a trend that has consistently favored the latter team. Despite securing a victory in the DFB-Pokal, Illertissen's subsequent matches have yet to generate a similar success.

FC Memmingen Prepares for Exciting Week Ahead

FC Memmingen is gearing up for an action-packed week in the Regionalliga, with two home games scheduled against FV Illertissen, TSV Buchbach, and SpVgg Bayreuth.

In a significant move, FV Illertissen has bolstered their squad with 15 new signings, many from the Regionalliga level, as well as some with experience in the 3rd or even 2nd league. Notable additions include Peter Reinhardt (VfB Stuttgart II), Jakob Mayer (VSG Altglienicke), Malwin Zok (SV Waldhof Mannheim), and Robin Muth (1. FC Kaiserslautern II).

The first game of this week is a makeup game and local derby against FV Illertissen on Tuesday evening. The second game is against TSV Buchbach on Friday evening. The next game against SpVgg Bayreuth is scheduled for Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 19:00.

FC Memmingen's away record consists of three wins, one draw, and two home losses. The home losses were against 1. FC Nuremberg II and FC Bayern Munich II. However, the record in previous league and cup games slightly favors FV Illertissen, with 13 wins, 5 for FC Memmingen, and 6 draws.

In the 4-0 win against Hankofen, FC Memmingen's coach Matthias Günes made some changes. David Remiger started in defense instead of Marcello Barbera, who came on in the second half. Notably, Luis Vetter, who did not play in the 4-0 win against Hankofen, will be back against Illertissen.

Ticket-related information for the upcoming FC Memmingen games can be found at www.fc-memmingen.de/tickets. The box office for the games opens at 6 PM. Tickets can be booked online until just before kickoff. They are also available at the MZ-Servicecenter (Donaustrasse) or the Esso gas station at the stadium (sales until 4 PM).

Meanwhile, FV Illertissen is the only remaining amateur team in the DFB-Pokal. They recently eliminated 1. FC Nuremberg in a penalty shootout in the cup.

Dominik Ceko has requested the termination of his contract for personal reasons but will not join another club immediately.

In the summer, FV Illertissen experienced significant personnel turnover, with an entire starting eleven leaving. They are currently in the 12th place in the table, two games behind due to their cup appearances.

This week promises to be an exciting one for both FC Memmingen and FV Illertissen fans. Don't miss out on the action!
