Customs successfully seizes illicit supply of oxycodone drug
In a significant development, the Main Customs Office Braunschweig has announced the seizure of a large shipment of illicit narcotics last Friday. A small truck from Poland was found to be carrying a "special gift package" containing 2,110 tablets labeled as "OxyContin" and "Oxydolor".
The active ingredient in these tablets, oxycodone, is subject to the Narcotics Act and is prescription-only. Unauthorized possession, trading, and distribution of such narcotics are criminal offenses.
The investigations against the truck driver are being conducted by the Braunschweig Public Prosecutor's Office. It is reported that the driver could not produce any documents for the narcotics and intended to travel with them to the UK. Customs officers have initiated criminal proceedings against the driver.
Further investigations are being conducted by the Customs Investigation Office Hannover. The Main Customs Office Braunschweig stated that there is an increased demand on the "black market" for these narcotics.
Oxycodone directly affects the respiratory center, and the oxygen saturation in the blood can drop rapidly. These substances can cause physical dependence quickly and, in combination with alcohol, can have life-threatening consequences. Due to their pain-relieving effect, such medications are often used for cancer pain.
However, Dagmar Täger, spokesperson for the Main Customs Office Braunschweig, expressed concern about the indifference shown by many people towards the risks associated with these substances. For media inquiries, the contact for media representatives is Dagmar Täger.
Contact information for Dagmar Täger includes telephone number 0531/1291-1016, email addresses [email protected] and [email protected], and website www.zoll.de.
This information was transmitted via news aktuell from the Main Customs Office Braunschweig. It serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with illicit narcotics and the critical role of customs officers in protecting public safety.
