Cyclist under the influence drives after an accident, according to Polish authorities' statement
On Wednesday evening at 7 p.m., an accident occurred between a cyclist and a car driver on a bridge crossing the federal road 27, from Aussiedlerhöfen towards Friedhofweg in Bad Dürrheim, Germany.
The car involved in the accident was a Kia, operated by a 44-year-old driver. Initial reports do not reveal the driver's name. The cyclist, a 62-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries in the accident but was able to continue initially before being stopped by the car driver.
However, it was later determined that the cyclist had an alcohol level over 2.4 per mille, as confirmed by a test at the scene of the accident. The collision occurred because the cyclist did not keep to her lane, and the car driver overtook the cyclist on the left during the accident, contributing to the collision.
Emergency services examined the cyclist at the scene of the accident. Despite initially wanting to continue, the cyclist was eventually stopped by the car driver.
