In the world of streaming entertainment, October is set to bring a chilling new addition with the premiere of "The Resurrected" on Netflix. This Chinese-language thriller, directed by Leste Chen and Hsu Chao-jen, offers a unique blend of revenge, mystery, and the supernatural.

The series takes place in the fictional city of Benkha, where a decaying, abandoned compound called Paradise serves as a prison for trafficked youths. The crime boss, Chang Shih-kai, portrayed by Fu Meng-po, is responsible for the abuse and murder of several young girls.

Two desperate mothers, seeking justice for their kidnapped daughters, resort to a dangerous ritual to resurrect Chang Shih-kai within a seven-day window. The series' synopsis also mentions a mysterious goddess serving as the supernatural force behind the mothers' resurrection.

The series stars internationally renowned actresses Shu Qi and Sinje Lee, marking their debut in a Chinese-language Netflix production. Alyssa Chia, a Golden Horse Award winner, appears in a notable guest role.

"The Resurrected" is a departure from traditional horror fare, described as a darker thriller that might appeal to those who aren't huge horror fans. The series gives revenge a seriously unhinged makeover, as dark secrets unravel and the alliance of the mothers is tested.

Leste Chen and Hsu Chao-jen are Taiwanese film directors known for their work on "The Resurrected." Chen is recognised for "Eternal Summer," while Hsu Chao-jen is known for "Living." The series premiered at the Busan International Film Festival at the beginning of September.

Mark your calendars, as "The Resurrected" premieres on October 9, offering viewers a thrilling journey into the heart of darkness.
