In the heart of Bottrop, on the border with Gladbeck, the Emscher Community is currently carrying out repair work on the Haarbach's channel, which flows into the Boye. This channel, built in 1971, is located at the Boye's culvert below the inflow of the Haarbach.

The repair work, which started in July, is necessary due to corrosion found during a structural inspection. The Emscher Community is responsible for the construction work and the subsequent disruptions along the Boye.

Citizens are asked to take note of the temporary crossing aid on the Boye due to the repair work. A temporary crossing aid will be provided on the Boye from Thursday, August 14.

The repair work on the Boye's sheet pile channel is scheduled to be completed by mid-September. However, disruptions on the cycle and footpath cannot be avoided during this period. Currently, pipes and cables are being laid across the path during the repair work.

The estimated cost of repairing the Boye's sheet pile channel is approximately 225,000 euros. The Emscher Community is the owner of the channel and is also responsible for the disruptions along the Boye due to construction work.

The repair work is part of the ongoing efforts to improve the Boye's infrastructure. Once completed, the repairs on the glass wall channel on the Boye are scheduled to be completed by September 11, 2025.

We urge all citizens to exercise caution and follow the temporary crossing aid instructions during this period. The Emscher Community apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks everyone for their understanding and cooperation.
