Discussing Sexual Health Among the Youth: "Time to Chat about Intimacy and Wellness!"

"Day dedicated to sexual wellness among the youth: "Open discussions about sexuality (health)""

On Thursday, September 18, 2025, the Women's Health working group is hosting a conference at the Herford County Administration Building (Amtshausstraße 3, 32051 Herford). This full-day event, starting at 8:30 AM, aims to address the full scope of sexuality in school life.

The conference program covers a range of topics, including the basics of sexual education, managing digital risks, and medical focuses like endometriosis. With approximately two million women in Germany suffering from endometriosis, a chronic condition that often begins in adolescence, this topic is particularly relevant.

Issues such as sexting and cyberbullying are now common in classrooms due to the digital dimension. The conference also addresses these concerns, providing practical insights and guidance to help teachers, school social workers, and other professionals navigate these challenges.

Nearly one-third of young people report being unintentionally exposed to sexual content online, and there are around 300,000 new Chlamydia infections nationwide each year, with young people and young adults being particularly affected. Expert speakers from gynecology, diakonisches Werk, pro familia, the county health department, and school social work will be present to share their knowledge and experience.

Networking is emphasized at the conference, encouraging teachers and school social workers to engage with the attending counseling services and with each other. The detailed program can be requested from the Herford County Equal Opportunities Office, and registration is via the website "our website".

This conference is a valuable opportunity for those working with young people to gain a better understanding of the issues surrounding sexual health and to learn strategies for promoting a safe and supportive environment in schools. With participation in the conference being free, there is no reason not to attend.
