Day's Agenda for 'Tour dementia': Detailed Plan for Engaging Family Members and Victims of Dementia

On September 17, 2025, Bergisch Gladbach will host an action day dedicated to raising awareness about dementia. This event, taking place in conjunction with World Alzheimer's Day and the "Tour Demenz" bike tour, promises a varied program from morning to evening, with participation in all events being free of charge.

The day's activities will kick off at DRK Refrather Treff, where Senior Physician Meike Jacobsen will discuss "Dement - what now?" at 10:00 AM. At the same venue, Claudia Freudenberger from the guardianship office of the city of Bergisch Gladbach will discuss legal representation options in dementia at 12:00 PM. The Aging Specialist Office will provide information and materials throughout the day.

At Volkshochschule Bergisch Gladbach, a lecture on "Driving with dementia" will take place from 5:30-7:00 PM. Meanwhile, at the City Library, a media exhibition on dementia will be on display from September 15-27.

The bike group of the Regional Office for Ageing, Care, and Dementia Bergisches Land will arrive at the Market Square around 3:25 PM, where they will be welcomed by the First Deputy Mayor Anna Maria Scheerer and other representatives of the city and the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis. At 2:30 PM, there will be a display of "The Radiance of Age" portrait photos from Caritas RheinBerg at the Market Square.

Radwerk (Caritas) will offer accompaniment of the bike group's visit, and ADFC Rhein-Berg will provide an E-Tandem for trying out. An Information Booth at the Market Square will be provided by the Contact Office for Care Self-Help RBK for caring relatives.

The highlight of the day, "In rhythm of memory," will be led by Dr. Ulrike Ehret at an undisclosed location. For more information about this event and the full daily schedule, visit www.ourwebsite.de/aktionstag-demenz-2025.aspx or call the specialist office for aging at: 02202 - 14 15 46 or 02202 - 14 24 67.

Finally, a guided tour "With all senses" at 4:00 PM, focusing on selected artworks and a dance offer for people with and without dementia, will take place at Villa Zanders. Registration for this event is required by September 15, 2025.

This action day aims to foster a better understanding of dementia, provide support for those affected, and encourage community engagement in addressing this important issue. Join us on September 17, 2025, and be a part of the change.
