Day's Agenda for 'Tour Dementia' Event: Advancement of Information, Interaction, and Assistance for Family Members and Affected Individuals
On September 17, 2025, the city of Bergisch Gladbach and the Regional Office for Ageing, Care, and Dementia Bergisches Land are hosting an action day focusing on dementia. This day-long event, timed to coincide with World Alzheimer's Day, promises a varied program from morning till evening, with all events being free of charge.
The action day will kick off with a bicycle tour, the "Tour Demenz", accompanied by the Radwerk (Caritas). The ADFC Rhein-Berg will provide an E-tandem for participants to try out. The bicycle group is expected to arrive at the Market Square around 3:25 PM.
From 2:30 PM, "The Radiance of Age" - portrait photos from the encounter centers of Caritas RheinBerg - will be displayed on the Market Square.
At the DRK Refrather Treff, Senior Physician Meike Jacobsen from the EVK Bergisch Gladbach will give a lecture titled "Dement - What now?" at 10:00 AM, followed by Claudia Freudenberger from the guardianship office of the city of Bergisch Gladbach, who will discuss legal representation options in dementia at 12:00 PM.
In the afternoon, Nicole Sutschet, Police Sergeant and traffic safety advisor of the accident prevention, will give a lecture on driving with dementia at the Volkshochschule Bergisch Gladbach from 5:30-7:00 PM.
A media exhibition on the topic of dementia will be held at the City Library am Forum from September 15-27.
The highlight of the action day is a guided tour "With all senses" at Villa Zanders at 4:00 PM. This tour focuses on an encounter with selected artworks and offers a dance offer for people with and without dementia. Registration for this event is required by September 15, 2025.
The speech "In rhythm of memory" - movement for people with and without dementia by TV Refrath will be delivered by dance pedagogue Katharina Simbrunner at Villa Zanders at 5:00 PM. Participants are invited to the dance event "In rhythm of memory" with familiar music. The program includes movement and rhythm impulses and welcomes wheelchair users, supported by volunteers.
Various information stands will be available on the Market Square from 3:30 PM, including the Contact office for self-help care, the City library, the Guardianship office, the Aging Support Office, Care counseling Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis, ADFC Rhein-Berg, and Radwerk (Caritas).
