Deadly Bus Accident: 15 Fatalities Following Cliff Crash in Sri Lanka at a Height of 1000 Feet

In a tragic incident, a bus accident occurred on a mountain road near the town of Wellawaya, approximately 280km east of Colombo, in the mountainous region of Sri Lanka. The accident took place on Thursday night at around 10 PM.

The initial police investigation suggests that the bus driver lost control, leading to the bus crashing into another vehicle and the road's guardrails. The bus subsequently toppled off a 1,000ft cliff, causing extensive damage.

The accident claimed the lives of fifteen individuals, and an additional sixteen people, including five children, were injured. Rescue crews, including soldiers, police officers, and volunteers, worked throughout the night to remove the injured from the severely damaged bus at the bottom of the precipice.
