Deadly Car Crash on A3 Highway Close to Höchstadt, France (414)
On April 23, 2025, a tragic incident took place on the A3 motorway near Hoechstadt a. d. Aisch, district of Erlangen-Hoechstadt. A collision between a VW Passat and a truck occurred around 13:30, resulting in the death of the Passat's driver, a 38-year-old individual.
Initial findings suggest that the truck had to reduce its speed due to traffic before the collision. The Passat, upon impact, collided with the truck at high speed, pushing almost halfway under the trailer. The almost completely destroyed Passat had to be pulled out from under the trailer by firefighters using heavy equipment.
Officers from the Erlangen traffic police are currently investigating the accident. An accident reconstruction expert has been called in to assist with the investigation. The closure of the A3 motorway in the direction of Nuernberg is expected to continue into the evening due to the ongoing investigation and subsequent clearance and recovery work following the traffic accident. The exact amount of material damage caused by the accident is not yet known, but is estimated to be in the tens of thousands of euros.
The Bavarian Police Headquarters urges drivers to avoid the area and use alternative routes. They remind the public that their safety is their top priority and ask for understanding during this difficult time.
