Deals Sealed: GGPoker Buys WSOP for an Astonishing Sum

Caesars Entertainment has sold the World Series of Poker (WSOP) brand to NSUS Group Incorporated, the parent company of GGPoker, for a total of $500 million. The deal, announced in August 2024, is structured with $250 million in cash upfront and the remaining $250 million due five years after closing.

As part of the acquisition, Caesars will continue hosting the WSOP live tournament series at its Las Vegas properties for the next 20 years, including the WSOP Circuit events. These events will still be branded WSOP but are expected to have cross-promotion with GGPoker.

Online, the WSOP Online remains a standalone brand for now, with GGPoker sites appearing in select markets like Ontario and the rest of the world. However, future changes are possible.

The sale has not caused immediate changes to the live WSOP event operations, with the 2025 WSOP running as usual at Caesars’ Las Vegas venues. GGPoker played a key role in online qualifying events globally, including for the WSOP Circuit Latin America event in Panama.

This deal marks a significant shift, giving GGPoker ownership of the prestigious WSOP brand while Caesars remains a key live event host for two decades.

The WSOP, the largest and most prestigious poker tournament series, attracts top players globally and offers over 100 events, catering to both professionals and amateurs. Recently, poker legend Daniel Negreanu won his 11th WSOP bracelet, ending an 11-year wait.

Roy D’Silva, a published author with a decade of experience covering various beats, including Bollywood, OTT, and now poker, aims to be at the forefront of this significant story in the poker world. An avid cyclist and documentary buff, D’Silva is excited about the future of the WSOP under GGPoker's leadership.
