Delightful Excursion into Soundscapes and Cultural Origins: Morgenland Festival Osnabrück 2025

The much-anticipated Morgenland Festival Osnabrück is set to return for its 20th anniversary from June 28 to July 11, 2025. This vibrant cultural event promises a diverse lineup of international artists, an engaging fringe program, and a theme that explores the concept of change.

The festival, which will take place in the heart of Osnabrück, is generously supported by several esteemed organisations, including the City of Osnabrück, Lower Saxony Foundation, Lower Saxony Savings Bank Foundation, Sparkasse Osnabrück Foundation, Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture, NDR Music Promotion in Lower Saxony, Osnabrücker Land Regional Association e.V., Sievert SE, and more.

The festival's 2025 programme is a veritable feast for music lovers. Highlights include performances by Dawn of Midi, Johnny Gandelsman, Brooklyn Rider, Issam Rafea, Asya Fateyeva, François Rabbath, Layale Chaker, Dinuk Wijeratne, Christine Zayed, Tarek Yamani, the Cello Octet Amsterdam, Karen Ouzounian, Lembit Beecher, Nai Barghouti, Jake Charkey, and Kinan Azmeh.

The festival will kick off on June 29, with the concert by Rami Khalife and Francesco Tristano. This extraordinary concert involves two pianos and a choreographed interplay of sound, space, and movement.

The Morgenland Festival Osnabrück 2025 is under the guidance of two distinguished figures. Syrian-American clarinetist and composer Kinan Azmeh serves as the guest curator, having crafted a programme that reflects the festival's community spirit and his own musical portrait. The new festival director from 2025 will be Shabnam Parvaresh, an Iranian-born clarinetist and composer established in Osnabrück known for her experimental music and live electronics performances.
