Delivery service provider Cargus teams up with Agroland retailer to broaden distribution points in Romania

Agroland, a leading network of stores for farmers and households, has formed a strategic partnership with courier company Cargus. This partnership aims to expand Cargus's parcel pick-up and drop-off network across Romania.

Founded in Timișoara in 1997, Agroland boasts a network of approximately 245 owned and franchise units, spanning across 30 counties. The partnership with Cargus is expected to strengthen Cargus's presence in both urban and rural areas.

Cargus, previously owned by Sameday, a courier company backed by eMag, was sold to the Polish company InPost in June this year. Sameday operates five national sorting centres, two gateway depots, and 36 warehouses across the country, providing a robust infrastructure for the partnership.

The integration of the Cargus points into the Agroland network will see the establishment of 100 Cargus SHIP & GO points. Twenty-two of these points are already operational, with the remaining set to become functional by the end of this year.

The partnership does not disclose the terms or duration of the agreement. However, it is expected that this collaboration will leverage Agroland's extensive customer base, further bolstering Cargus's delivery capabilities.

It's worth noting that Agroland operates in retail, agribusiness, and agro-food, with a diversified portfolio covering products for gardening, pets, small farms, and households. This partnership could open up new opportunities for Cargus in these sectors, particularly in rural areas where Agroland has a strong presence.

Cargus also runs a cross-border hub in Poland for international courier services. However, the geographical location of these delivery points within the Agroland network remains undisclosed.

The integration of the Cargus network into Agroland is a significant step for both companies, promising to bring convenience and efficiency to customers across Romania. The Agroland Group includes companies listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, further underscoring the importance of this partnership.
