Demi Moore speaks honestly about Bruce Willis' challenging transformation in his behavior due to dementia

In a poignant and heartfelt conversation, Demi Moore and Emma Heming, the ex-wife and current wife of Bruce Willis respectively, shared insights about the actor's struggle with dementia on the latest episode of the "Oprah Winfrey" podcast.

Moore, who shares daughters Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah with Willis, spoke about the importance of being present with someone dealing with dementia. She emphasised the need to meet them where they are, without expectations, to reduce anxiety and grief.

Emma Heming, who recently spoke about the difficult decision to place Willis in a separate care facility, shared that he is still very mobile despite his condition affecting speech, writing, and understanding language. She highlighted that this choice was made for the benefit of their daughters Mabel and Evelyn, as Willis "would want that" for them.

Heming's forthcoming memoir, "The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope and Yourself on the Caregiving Path," discusses her experiences as a caregiver for a person with dementia. The book is set to be released on Sept. 9.

Bruce Willis went public with his aphasia diagnosis in 2022 and announced his retirement from acting. His current wife discussed her new memoir on the podcast, providing a candid account of their journey.

Moore's comments were made after Heming revealed she placed Willis in a separate home. Moore shared a rare insight, stating that there is still much of Bruce Willis present, even if it may not always be verbal. She also shared that Willis eats breakfast and dinner with his family, including his daughters, in his home where he resides with a full-time care team.

The "Oprah Winfrey" podcast episode featuring Emma Heming and Demi Moore aired on Tuesday. This conversation offers a unique perspective on dementia caregiving and the importance of family support during challenging times.
