Democrats present a purported Trump letter to Epstein
In a recent development, the House Oversight Committee has made public an alleged birthday greeting purportedly signed by former President Donald Trump, which was originally found in Jeffrey Epstein's birthday book. The Wall Street Journal published a photo of the alleged greeting on Monday, stirring controversy and speculation.
The greeting, which consists of cryptic references to a written dialogue between "Donald" and "Jeffrey", is surrounded by a sketched silhouette of a woman's body. However, Trump has vehemently denied authorship of the greeting, stating that it is forged and does not reflect his language or words.
The alleged greeting was handed over to Congress by Epstein's estate lawyers and was made public on the X platform by the House Oversight Committee. The committee is led by Republican chairman James Comer, who has accused Democrats of selectively choosing documents and politicizing information recently received from Epstein's estate administrators.
Comer has also stated that President Trump is not accused of any wrongdoing in relation to the Epstein case. This long-standing dispute has been simmering for months, with calls for the release of all documents related to the case growing louder. Trump has been under pressure due to his advocacy for the disclosure of the records during his campaign.
Trump's spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, dismissed the newspaper's reporting as "false" and stated that Trump did not draw the picture and did not sign it. Leavitt also threatened further legal action. Trump has previously filed a lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal and media mogul Rupert Murdoch, seeking damages in the billions.
Epstein, a financier with close connections to American high society, systematically abused minors for many years and died in 2019 in his prison cell. His death sparked wild speculation due to the circumstances surrounding it. The autopsy report listed suicide as the cause of death.
In addition to the alleged birthday greeting, the committee also published more documents related to the Epstein case on Monday, including Epstein's will, entries from his address books, and a birthday book compiled by his former partner Ghislaine Maxwell for Epstein's 50th birthday.
Trump spent time with Epstein, as evidenced by several party videos. The release of these documents and the alleged birthday greeting is likely to fuel further debate and speculation in the ongoing saga surrounding the Epstein case.
