Departure of Flight FromBackup Airfield in Tatarstan to Sochi City
Two flights, one from Sochi and another from St. Petersburg, were diverted to Begishevo Airport in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan, on Tuesday morning due to dense fog at Izhevsk Airport.
According to the Izhavia website, Flight No504 from Sochi, operated by the airline, was initially scheduled to land at Izhevsk Airport but was forced to divert to Begishevo Airport at 6 AM local time. The plane from St. Petersburg also landed at Begishevo Airport along with Flight No504 from Sochi.
The dense fog at Izhevsk Airport had visibility down to 300 meters, causing the initial landing of both flights to be diverted. The landing of the planes at Begishevo Airport allowed them to avoid the foggy conditions at Izhevsk Airport.
Two more flights from Moscow and Sochi were also delayed due to the fog at Izhevsk Airport. Both flights landed several hours later than their original scheduled times. The dense fog affected multiple flights on the same day.
