Derby granting permission for Dragovic's participation
Aleksandar Dragovic, a defender for Vienna Austria, will be eligible to play in the upcoming Vienna derby against SK Rapid on Sunday, following the reduction of his suspension.
The initial suspension, which was handed down after an incident in the cup semi-final against Hartberg on April 2, saw Dragovic miss the 0:0 draw against WAC. The incident occurred in the 0:1 home defeat against Hartberg, where Dragovic was found to have insulted referee Sebastian Gishamer immediately after the final whistle.
The suspension initially consisted of two mandatory matches and one conditional match. However, Austria lodged a protest against the decision, and the protest was successful, resulting in the reduction of Dragovic's suspension to a single mandatory match. The reduction was announced on Friday.
Despite the reduction, the conditional matches were not specified in the initial suspension and remain unchanged.
The defender represented Bayer Leverkusen before his suspension was reduced, and his return to the pitch is a welcome boost for Vienna Austria as they prepare for the highly anticipated derby against SK Rapid. The match is scheduled for 17:00 CET.
This will be the first match Dragovic is eligible to play since his suspension, making his presence on the field a significant factor in the outcome of the game. The match is a part of the Austrian Football Bundesliga, and both teams will be eager to secure victory in this intense local rivalry.
