Des Moines celebrates over two billion dealmakers
Des Moines, IA - The Greater Des Moines Partnership hosted its annual Economic Impact Awards on September 17, 2025, at the Iowa Events Center. Six companies were honoured for their significant contributions to the region's economic growth and development.
One of the award winners, Coviance, has been based in West Des Moines since 2015. The lending experience platform employs 75 team members, with 80% residing in Iowa. Coviance has received national recognition, including Inc. Power Partner 2023, HousingWire Tech100 2024, and three consecutive appearances on the Inc. 5000 list.
Another award-winning company, ITA Group, expanded its global headquarters in West Des Moines, increasing its square footage to 152,000 and adding another 15,000 square feet in progress. ITA Group hosts more than 1,000 global team members in Des Moines each year and continues to elevate the region's national presence and economic vitality.
Musco Lighting, a global leader in sports and infrastructure lighting, completed a 74,000-square-foot renovation and expansion of its global headquarters in Oskaloosa in 2025. The company, which employs more than 1,400 Iowa-based employees, has also undertaken additional capital projects in Oskaloosa, Muscatine, and Urbandale to fuel growth in R&D, innovation, and workforce expansion.
In addition to these companies, MidAmerican Energy Company, headquartered in Des Moines, was recognised for its outstanding service. MidAmerican Energy serves over 1.6 million customers across four states with a system reliability of 99.9%. The company's commitment to sustainability is evident in its GreenAdvantage® program, which delivered 100% carbon-free energy to Iowa customers in 2024.
Osmundson Manufacturing, a leader in precision and innovation in Iowa's manufacturing sector, was also honoured. The company's expansion at its Perry headquarters, supported by the State's High Quality Jobs Program, is supporting job growth in Iowa and strengthening the company's ability to meet the evolving needs of the agricultural industry.
Excell Brands, another award winner, has grown its national reach from Des Moines for over 45 years and recently expanded its facilities, boosting shipping capacity and creating 50 jobs. The company serves 40+ retailers with 45,000 store fronts and remains committed to growing in and contributing to the Greater Des Moines community.
Now in its 43rd year, the Economic Impact Awards celebrate companies that have made significant capital investments in the Greater Des Moines region, while creating high-quality jobs and strengthening the community. These awards highlight the region's continued growth and success, driven by innovative businesses like Coviance, ITA Group, Musco Lighting, MidAmerican Energy Company, Osmundson Manufacturing, and Excell Brands.
