Detroit officials emphasize the importance of vaccines and overall community health during a local health fair
The Detroit Health Department organised a free health fair on Saturday, aiming to provide residents with vital information about vaccines and other health resources. The event, now in its fourth year, was held in response to the national debate surrounding the effectiveness and safety of COVID-19 and other vaccines.
Denise Fair Razo, the chief public health officer with the Detroit Health Department, emphasised the importance of community health, especially with kids headed back to school. She encouraged residents to put their faith and trust in the Detroit Health Department regarding vaccine efficacy and safety.
The health fair featured dozens of health vendors and included on-site vaccines for a variety of diseases. Gino Vicci, a journalist, covered the event in Detroit. Lisa Whitmore Davis, a cancer survivor, also attended the fair.
Whitmore Davis expressed the importance of residents knowing what resources are available for any health issue. She stated that the availability of resources at a free event like the health fair made her heart sing.
The Detroit Health Department accepts all forms of insurance and offers resources for anyone who doesn't have insurance. In addition to health services, the health fair included entertainment from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
The health fair was aimed at addressing common misconceptions about vaccines and promoting the importance of prioritising health. Denise Fair Razo encouraged residents to get vaccinated at the health fair, emphasising that it was a fun event designed to remind people to take care of their health.
