Developing business concepts hailing from the Hamburg metropolitan region
The Luenale Economic Awards, a prestigious event hosted by the Economic Development Corporation for the City and District of Lueneburg (WLG), is an important supraregional stage for the regional economy. Unlike the Metropol Region Hamburg, which is distinct and does not host the Luenale Economic Awards, the awards ceremony takes place in the central building of Leuphana University Lueneburg.
Mario Leupold, Managing Director of WLG, explains that the Luenale Economic Awards consist of four categories: Lueneburg Foundation Prize Impulse, Leuphana Foundation Idea of the Year, Craft Prize under the motto "Artificial Intelligence in Crafts", and SME Prize Lueneburg. Each category comes with a prize money of 3,000 euros.
The awards honour creative business ideas and outstanding entrepreneurial achievements of startups, young companies, crafts, and SMEs from the region. In contrast, the Metropol Region Hamburg, while implementing key measures of the future agenda, focuses on mobility management and sustainable mobility. The region supports companies through Reallabor for sustainable mobility. However, unlike the Luenale Economic Awards, the Metropol Region Hamburg does not have a specific deadline for applications or an award ceremony date for a similar awards event.
