In the city of Iserlohn, a significant change is underway in the traffic department as they introduce a new digital system for managing parking permits. This shift aims to simplify processes and address the city's acute shortage of skilled workers.

From January 1st, 2023, citizens can apply for resident parking permits electronically via the city's service portal. This digital solution, championed by department head Christian Eichhorn, is a step towards keeping the city administration efficient and operational.

The process begins with an online application, where applicants are required to provide residence and vehicle registration details. Once verified, they will receive a notice with an invoice. The yearly cost of a resident parking permit is 90 Euro, and the half-yearly cost is 58 Euro.

For those who require fee exemption, an online application assistant allows for the upload of proof documents. Once payment is received, the resident parking permit will be activated.

The monitoring staff of the traffic department will scan parked vehicles during their checks using a reading device. Vehicles with digital parking permits have a database entry that the monitoring systems can access. Those who receive a warning letter can use a QR code for the online appeal or pay the fine via online banking.

Christian Eichhorn expresses his pleasure about this further step towards digitization of the city administration, emphasizing that the administration prefers the digital solution. He believes this digital solution is a response to the need for process simplification in city administration and a step towards keeping the city operational.

It's important to note that the traditional method of applying for a resident parking permit is still available. However, the digital solution offers a more streamlined and efficient process, making it an attractive option for many residents.

The city administration is committed to this digital transformation, aiming to make city services more accessible and user-friendly. This digital solution is aimed at keeping the city operational, responding to the shortage of skilled workers, and taking every step towards process simplification.
