Diplomatic Ceremony: Nine Ambassadors Present Credentials to President Ruto
In a significant diplomatic event at State House, Nairobi on August 3, President William Ruto welcomed nine new ambassadors and high commissioners who presented their credentials. The diverse group represents the Republic of Congo, Canada, Finland, Israel, Sweden, Spain, Belarus, the Slovak Republic, and Indonesia.
The new ambassadors and high commissioners bring a wealth of experience in foreign affairs, with a majority having held similar positions in African countries before. Among them is Maros Mitrik, the new Slovak Republic ambassador, and Hakan Akesson, the new Swedish ambassador. Leon Francois Yandouma represents the Republic of Congo, while Ambassador Gideon Behar is the new Israeli ambassador. Finland's Ambassador Riina-Riikka Heikka, who served during the state visit of Finnish President Alexander Stubb in May, pledged to deepen the relationship between Kenya and Finland.
Canada values Kenya's leadership in regional and international forums, and the new Canadian High Commissioner, Joshua Brebner Tabha, intends to exploit shared ideals between the two nations, such as Commonwealth links, to pursue matters of mutual interest. Notably, Canada commends Kenya's acceptance to lead the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission in Haiti, a move that Canada is proud to support.
The diplomats have pledged to strengthen ties between Kenya and their nations, particularly in strategic sectors such as energy, trade, agriculture, health, and education. Jaime Alejandro, the new Spanish ambassador, and Tyas Baskoro Adji, the new Indonesian ambassador, share this commitment. Dzmitry Krasouski, the new Belarus ambassador, also emphasised the importance of these collaborations.
The joint efforts of these new ambassadors and high commissioners reflect a shared dedication to restoring stability and supporting the Haitian people, as their efforts in the MSS mission underscore. The new diplomats' arrival marks a new chapter in Kenya's international relations, promising a continued strengthening of bonds and mutual friendship between Kenya and their respective countries.
